The Speed Differential

In football, for example, if you are a tenth of a second (0.1 seconds) faster than your opponent in a 10 metre sprint, you will be about 58 centimetres ahead when reaching the ball 10 metres away. That’s the difference between scoring a goal or getting tackled or intercepted. It’s the difference between winning the ball from attackers or getting beat by them.
